We are a small group of local women with a cross-section of relevant expertise and experience.

During the Covid -19 pandemic of 2020 we recognised the need for supporting those suffering domestic violence and abuse in our Totnes area. We formed the Sasha support group to offer some help where we could. We have continued the group to this day as we have identified the need for such support is still very much needed. We try to help those victims suffering low to mid level abuse or having to still deal with the effects of abuse in their past lives.

If you are in immediate danger please call the Police emergency number ‘999’

If you are at high risk of suffering domestic abuse please consider contacting the main qualified support for our area which is provided by Fearless (formerly Splitz) 0345 155 1074 or email: admin.devon@fear-less.org.uk or visit their website: https://www.fear-less.org.uk

Sasha is based centrally in Totnes, we have a safe and secure space in which we can meet clients and offer our support. Due to our small number of voluntary support workers we can only assist any female over 16 years who is a resident of Totnes or local area. (Up to a 6 mile limit)

When needed, we run a support group for women who have experienced domestic violence and abuse. We are able to offer a range of practical support plus we can advise where to obtain specific help on a range of subjects such as health, support in schools, housing, benefits, legal advice etc. We aim to provide as much as we can including our helpline, social media and this website.

SASHA has volunteers who have expertise and experience in the following areas to help you.

As a team we have training and experience in supporting women who have experienced domestic abuse and violence, sexual abuse, drug addiction, homelessness, suicide prevention and awareness and support with mental ill health. We have worked closely with families and are familiar with the attachment difficulties that children can experience following exposure to difficult family relationships. We are aware of Special Educational Needs and links to education.

We have experience in relation to matters of housing, benefits, we can help with bills and debt, family and relationship issues. We can help you migrate your way through the often complex systems needed to get to the help you need to become independent e.g. applying for Universal Credit and accommodation. We are familiar with the legal processes both in civil and criminal law that you may need to encounter.

We have knowledge of the support available locally as well as regionally and nationally. We are innovative in finding solutions for your needs but always being led by your wishes. If you reach out to us we will be there.
